Kitchen cleaning services

Kitchen Appliance Cleaning

Cooking appliances are often in constant use throughout the day in a thriving kitchen, and grime soon accumulates. A daily cleaning schedule mostly keeps this in check, but deep cleaning will be required at some stage to maintain hygiene standards.

Clean Team Scotland can tackle all types of cooking appliances, including:

  • Ovens - Combi-ovens, ranges, pizza ovens, rotisserie ovens and convection ovens
  • Grills/Griddles - Salamanders, chargrill, flat-top griddle
  • Deep fat fryers
  • Sous Vide equipment
  • Bain Maries
  • Toasters
  • Microwaves
  • Coffee machines

Each appliance is treated using high-quality kitchen cleaning chemicals and heavy-duty degreasers. Drip pans, grates and burner components are dismantled, soaked in a degreasing solution and scrubbed clean. Foaming oven cleaner is sprayed into spaces that are difficult to reach by hand, and a suitable brush is used to scrub these areas.

Sensitive surfaces (such as glass and stainless steel) are scrubbed using soft brushes to prevent scratches.

Gaskets and door seals are wiped clean and checked for wear and tear to ensure maximum heat retention and efficiency.

The area beneath the grates, which is often lined with charred debris and grease, is scraped away and cleaned.

Burners are checked for soot build-up and cleaned accordingly to allow even flame distribution.

Extraction Systems

Extractor fans and vents become caked in grease and dirt from the cooking process, and this is a problem. A build-up of grime and grease is a potential fire hazard and provides ideal conditions for harmful bacteria to thrive.

Our dedicated team will check your extraction systems, including fans, ducts, canopies and filters, to assess their condition. All parts will be thoroughly cleaned using industrial-grade kitchen cleaning chemicals, heavy-duty degreasers or other methods, such as steam cleaning, to ensure that they are spotlessly clean.

Steam cleaning is perfect for this task, as it also sterilises the surfaces, killing bacteria and germs.

Filters are cleaned or replaced as necessary, depending on their condition.

Floors, Walls & Ceilings

Commercial kitchen surfaces accumulate grease, grime and food residue over time, and this must be dealt with to maintain a hygienic environment.

Here's how Clean Team Scotland will tackle this for you:

Floor Cleaning

The team begins by sweeping the floor to remove loose debris, such as food scraps and litter.

They then apply a powerful degreasing floor cleaner to the surface and leave this to loosen oil, grease and stains.

For heavy-duty cleaning, an automatic floor scrubber or a rotary scrubbing machine is used, which efficiently removes grime while minimising water usage. Brushes or scrub pads are used depending on the type of floor (e.g., tiles, concrete).

If necessary, additional cleaning equipment will be used, such as a steam cleaner or pressure washer. This is especially effective on tiled floors where dirt is ingrained in grout, or in corners and tight spaces where dirt accumulates.

Special attention is paid to the bases of appliances, as these can trap dirt, grease and grime.

All surfaces are rinsed thoroughly to remove cleaning agents and then dried using special vacuum cleaners and/or mops.

Wall Cleaning

Our cleaners apply a heavy-duty, food-safe degreaser, working in sections from top to bottom to avoid streaking.

On tiled or non-porous walls, we use steam cleaners or pressure washers to remove built-up dirt and debris. This method is particularly effective around stove tops, grills and fryers.

For areas that can’t be pressure washed, cleaners scrub using brushes or abrasive sponges, ensuring to get into grout lines between tiles, which can harbour bacteria and muck.

Once the walls have been scrubbed and rinsed off to remove the cleaning agents, a food-safe sanitiser is applied, with a focus on walls close to food preparation areas.

Ceiling Cleaning

Ceilings in commercial kitchens often accumulate a layer of grease, especially over cooking appliances.

Our cleaners apply a powerful, food-safe degreasing agent to the ceiling to break down the greasy deposits. Once the active ingredients have done their job, the team will scrub the ceiling to remove all traces of grease and stains.

The ceiling is then wiped down with damp microfibre cloths or rinsed with clean water, if necessary. Some cleaners use low-pressure rinsing equipment, followed by drying with cloths or allowing the ceiling to air-dry naturally.

Food Preparation Surfaces

Our cleaners remove all loose food particles, crumbs and visible debris. Scrapers are used to remove baked-on food residue, taking into account the surface material.

An industrial-grade degreaser is applied and left to penetrate the grease and break down tough residue, making it easy to wipe away.

Non-abrasive cleaners are used to avoid scratching any sensitive surfaces. All food preparation areas are then rinsed with clean water to ensure there's no contamination from chemicals. A final wipe down makes sure that the area is ready for sanitisation.

An approved food-safe sanitiser is applied to the food prep area and left in place to kill any remaining pathogens or bacteria. Some sanitisers are no-rinse, meaning that we leave them to continue to protect the surface, while others will be rinsed off.

The team will then dry the area with a clean dry cloth.

Our Deep Cleaning Services
Food Preparation Surfaces

Sanitising Sinks & Dishwashing Areas

These areas can attract a lot of food particles, grease and debris, resulting in foul odours and bacteria.

All solid debris is removed along with grease clumps. Drain catchers and strainers are cleaned out to prevent blockages. They are usually soaked and scrubbed separately to ensure they’re free of grease and residue.

Dish racks and draining boards are scrubbed, sanitised and dried.

Degreasers are applied to sinks, splashbacks and any countertops nearby. The degreasing agent is left to break down the accumulated oils and fats.

Non-abrasive pads are used to scrub the area thoroughly, and the cleaning agents are rinsed away with hot water.

Finally, all areas are sanitised and left to dry.

Drains & Grease Traps

To prevent clogs and remove grease buildup, a commercial drain cleaner or enzyme-based solution may be poured down the drain or grease trap to break down organic matter and grease. After a while, this is flushed out to ensure a smooth, clear flow.

If necessary, we remove the sink trap (or U-bend) to manually clear out accumulated food particles and grease.

Again, these areas are sanitised to eliminate germs and any risk of contamination.

All debris, grease and food residue is bagged and disposed of responsibly.

Deep Cleaning

Our deep cleaning service is available as part of a regular cleaning schedule or as a one-off session. This can be especially helpful following an outbreak of any food-borne diseases or any specific directions from a Food Safety or Environmental Health Officer.

While our usual service provides excellent standards of food hygiene, having your kitchen deep cleaned will help you to secure the full approval of the food safety regulators. This boosts confidence in your establishment and makes the job easier when it comes to daily cleaning tasks.
